Story

It’s January 1991, and Israel is bracing itself to withstand Saddam’s promised onslaught of chemical and biological warfare. Against this backdrop of a nation trying not to panic, Alain Tasma paints an intimate portrait of a young French immigrant couple struggling to cope. But Tasma is also concerned to give us a sense of how the political seeps into people’s lives, as he builds a complex web of interactions and conflicts across Israeli society.
Jasmine Trinca plays Luisa, a French student grappling with her depressive, angry, artist boyfriend Nathanael (Gaspard Ulliel). Meanwhile, Tamar (Sarah Adler, star of Jellyfish) is due to give birth on the 15th, which also happens to be the coalition’s ultimatum date for Saddam to withdraw from Kuwait…
